Children ages 8-14 will learn the FUN-damentals and safety of off-road cycling including: starting, stopping, shifting, turning, pedaling, bike maintenance, trail safety, LNT principles and much more. We have the unique opportunity to ride some of the leading trail networks St. Louis has to offer while making some great new friends along the way!
+ Adventure Camp
After mountain bike camp we continue our day to explore the great outdoors. Campers will join in outdoor group games, scenic nature hikes, trail etiquette, orienteering, arts & crafts, challenging scavenger hunts and team-building activities. All this culminates with a fun cooperative adventure race that combines our bike skills with an orienteering challenge.
Castlewood Mountain Bike + Adventure
Our youth camps are intended for children ages 8-14. Participants must be able to ride a bike. "Riding a bike" includes but is not limited to comfortably starting, stopping, turning, and riding 3+ miles on pavement. We encourage children and parents to ride as much as possible before attending camp; from our experience, this sets a good base and helps ensure the best camp experience.
Private lessons: Available for riders of all ages and skill levels. We recommend them for children who do not meet the above requirements and need instruction on the basics of trail riding. This is a great way to prepare your child for future camps and get ready for trail riding. To book a private lesson please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org
Where we meet
Our Summer Camps Take Place at Castlewood State Park.
You will receive an email a week before your week attending camp with specifics for drop off location, time, and other details about camp.
What to bring
- Mountain bike which must be tuned up and ready to ride (front suspension and gears recommended, for safety reasons bicycles with coaster brakes will not be accepted).
- Water bottle (that can be carried on the bike) or Hydration Backpack
- A nutritious lunch and substantial snack for the day
Suggested items to bring:
*We also suggest every camper has eaten before coming to camp as we all know a hungry camper is not a happy camper.
Rain/ Heat Policy
We are an outdoor camp, so in the event of weather that prevents us from riding the trails, we may have to cancel. In the event of a cancellation due to heat or rain, you will be credited toward another week at camp if one is available.
